The young Aragonese countertenor Hugo Bolívar has studied historical singing with Marta Almajano at the Escola Superior de Musica de Catalunya and has also had lessons with Fabien Schofrin, Victor Torres and Carlos Mena, among others. He sings regularly with groups such as La Xantria, Coral de Cámara de Navarra, Vespres d’Arnadí, Orquestra Barroca de Barcelona, Capella de Ministrers, and outside Spain with L’Armonia degli Affetti in Switzerland and Rosso Porpora and Gambe di Legno Consort in Italy.
He has sung in venues such as the Theatre Royal, L’Auditori de Barcelona, Casa da Musica (Porto), Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels (Bozar), TAP (Poitiers), Opéra de Vichy and Opéra de Reims.
Among his recent recordings, the most notable include the Oratorio per la Nascita del Redentore by G. Lulier, recently recovered in the Vatican Library, for Österreichscher Rundfunk. He made his operatic debut at the Teatro Real in 2012 with L’Orfeo, favola in música, the work for which he was also selected in 2013 by L’Académie baroque d’Ambronay, one of the most prestigious in Europe and whose purpose is the promotion of young talent.
