Xavier Montsalvatge found in Victoria de los Ángeles one of his great interpreters. Today, his legacy lives on in the hands of a new generation of musicians. Winners of the Xavier Montsalvatge Prize at the 2025 Les Corts International Music Competition, clarinettist Óscar Carballar and pianist Mireia Pladevall share a career marked by rigour, sensitivity and a particular affinity for contemporary music. In this recital, they explore the creative world of Montsalvatge and his contemporaries, revealing the many connections between composers who developed their own distinctive musical language through an instrumental combination—clarinet and piano—that Montsalvatge held especially dear.
