The Generation of ’27 understood poetry as a place of encounter: between tradition and the avant-garde, between popular memory and modernity, between the spoken and the sung word. It is no coincidence that many of its poets maintained a deep connection with music, nor that composers such as Falla, Mompou, Rodolfo Halffter, Julián Bautista, as well as Salvador Bacarisse and Ernesto Halffter, found an inexhaustible source of inspiration in their verse. On the centenary of the movement that transformed Hispanic culture, this recital by Nancy Fabiola Herrera and Javier Arrebola celebrates the poets of the Generation of ’27, many of whom were shaped by exile: Rafael Alberti, Luis Cernuda, Pedro Salinas and Jorge Guillén, among others.
