The verses of Federico García Lorca have inspired some of the finest pages in the Spanish vocal repertoire. In these masterclasses, mezzo-soprano Nancy Fabiola Herrera and pianist Javier Arrebola explore the relationship between poetry and music through songs inspired by his work, inviting young performers to delve deeper into the words, rhythm and expressiveness of the text, as well as its historical and cultural context. Following the success of this programme at The Juilliard School in New York, as part of the Victoria de los Ángeles Legacy project, LIFE Victoria presents an educational experience that brings together performance, literature and tradition in tribute to one of the great poets of the twentieth century. Lorca’s musical legacy lives on.
