The recognition coincides with the commemoration of the centenary of Victoria de los Ángeles’ birth, organized by the Foundation, in collaboration with institutions across Spain.

The Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation received the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts 2023 this Tuesday, January 9, awarded by the Council of Ministers to 37 personalities and entities that have excelled in the field of artistic and cultural creation. The Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, announced all the awardees this Tuesday at noon.

The Government has awarded the Medal to the Foundation for organizing “with great public success, as well as significant national and international impact, the commemoration of the centenary of the birth of soprano Victoria de los Ángeles, with the collaboration and participation of various public and private cultural entities, programmers, festivals, singers… so that 2023 can serve as a platform to help disseminate the legacy and memory of this artist.”

He added that “the mission of the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation is to preserve and disseminate the soprano’s legacy with the aim that the vital and artistic testimony of the person and the singer remain alive; as well as to train future generations of musicians, following the artist’s example.”
