Iberia I and II: A Dream from Afar
Iberia is the great musical dream of Isaac Albéniz: a Spain experienced through memory and imagination. Composed between Paris and near Nice between 1905 and 1909, he completed it only a year before his death. Far from home, the composer transforms memories and landscapes into music full of light, rhythm, and mystery. With great harmonic sophistication and pianistic richness, these pieces evoke not only places—such as Triana or El Albaicín—but the very soul of a country. Alba Ventura, a disciple of Alicia de Larrocha, who in turn was a student of Frank Marshall and he of Enric Granados, will offer us this music first-hand over two days. In this first session, she will perform Books I and II of this magnificent suite, which includes moments as well-known as they are sublime, such as *Evocación* or *El puerto*, which Alicia de Larrocha performed on numerous occasions, becoming a master of the work.
