The Enchantment of Origins

Before becoming one of the great ballets of the twentieth century, El amor brujo was first conceived in 1915 as a gitanería by Manuel de Falla for the flamenco dancer Pastora Imperio. This original version, more intimate and closer to flamenco, preserves the primal force of a work in which singing, dance and spoken word merge into a single expressive impulse. As part of LIFE Victoria, Pedro Pardo revisits this original conception with Elena Gadel as the protagonist, taking us back to the sound world that fascinated Falla before the later symphonic revisions. An exceptional opportunity to rediscover a score that speaks of love, death and freedom, but also of the power of roots: a musical heritage that, more than a century later, continues to move audiences through its authenticity and dramatic intensity, marking the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla’s birth.
