Battle for Reason
Mezzosoprano Helena Ressurreição and pianist Mar Compte, also graduates of the Victoria de los Ángeles Lied Master's program taught at the Escola Superior de Catalunya (ESMUC), propose a program that explores the treatment of the female mind in 19th and 20th-century literature and even in popular Catalan tradition. A vision based on female figures driven to madness, mostly by causes of love or heartbreak. Stories such as that of Queen Mary Stuart, the characters of Mignon and Gretchen by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, or the Lady of Monte-Carlo by Jean Cocteau and Francis Poulenc. A journey through the female psyche led by these two already great emerging performers. A recital for the benefit of the Kālida Foundation, which offers comprehensive psychosocial support for people living with cancer, their families, caregivers, and friends.
