An indisputable reference in the world of Lied
Following her brilliant debut at the Festival last November, Dame Sarah Connolly returns to LIFE Victoria, establishing herself as one of its regular performers.
Taking advantage of her participation in Claude Debussy's opera Pelléas et Mélisande at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the mezzo-soprano—a regular at Wigmore Hall and most European festivals—will offer a masterclass session, putting her artistic experience at the service of the new generations of students receiving scholarships from the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation.
Course Guidelines
To apply for the masterclasses, duos must send the following materials to info@victoriadelosangeles.org up to one month before the masterclasses.
- Submission of 2 pieces of different styles in mp3 or YouTube format. These must be Lieder, mélodies, or songs.
- Send biography and contact details of the applicants.
- Scanned copy of ID card.
- List of the repertoire prepared for the course.
- Payment of €40 as an application fee, which will be deducted from the final price.
- Limited places. A maximum of 6 duos will be admitted.
Tuition Fees
- Active students: €480 (€240 including the €40 pre-registration fee). In addition to the masterclasses, the tuition fee includes access to all LIFE Akademie activities and one ticket for each LIFE Victoria Barcelona concert.
- Auditors: free admission.
- Students of the Victoria de los Ángeles Master in Lied at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC): have a scholarship to participate in these masterclasses at no cost.
The pre-registration fee must be paid at least two weeks before the masterclasses to the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation account IBAN ES9521000553440200325471 / BIC CAIXESBBXXX, and the name of at least one of the two members of the duo must be clearly stated.
Repertoire
A minimum of 6-8 pieces of free choice must be prepared, entirely from memory by the singer. A copy of the score must be provided for the course teacher (in some cases, opera and oratorio are accepted, depending on the teacher).
Selected Participants
- Selected students will be informed by email.
- Tuition fees shall be paid via bank transfer before the start of classes to the aforementioned Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation account.
Accommodation
For students not residing in Barcelona, a special rate will be offered at ONA Hotels, the official hotel chain of LIFE.
