An undisputed Lied authority
Following her brilliant debut at the Festival last November, Dame Sarah Connolly returns to LIFE Victoria, establishing herself as one of its frequent names.
Taking advantage of her participation in Claude Debussy's opera Pélleas et Mélisande at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the mezzo-soprano, a regular at Wigmore Hall and most European festivals, will offer a masterclass session, putting her artistic experience at the service of new generations of students sponsored by the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation.
Course Rules
To be eligible for the masterclasses, duos must send the following materials to info@victoriadelosangeles.org up to one month before the masterclasses.
- Submission in mp3 or YouTube format of 2 pieces of different styles. They must be Lieder, mélodies, or songs.
- Send biography and contact details of the applicants.
- Scanned photocopy of ID.
- List of repertoire prepared for the course.
- Payment of €40 for registration fees, which will be deducted from the final price.
- Limited places. A maximum of 6 duos will be admitted.
Registration Fees
- Active students: €480 (€240, which includes the €40 pre-registration fee). The registration fee, in addition to the masterclasses, includes access to all LIFE Akademie activities and one ticket for each LIFE Victoria Barcelona concert.
- Auditing students: free admission.
- Master's students of Lied Victoria de los Ángeles from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC): they have a scholarship to participate in these masterclasses free of charge.
The pre-registration fee must be paid two weeks before the masterclasses to the account of the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation IBAN ES9521000553440200325471/ BIC CAIXESBBXXX and must clearly state the name of at least one of the two duo members.
Repertoire
A minimum of 6-8 pieces of free choice must be prepared, entirely from memory by the singer. A copy of the score will be provided for the course professor (in some cases, opera and oratorio are accepted, depending on the professor).
Selected
- Selected students will be informed by email.
- The tuition fee must be paid via bank transfer before the start of classes to the aforementioned Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation account.
Accommodation
For students not residing in Barcelona, a special rate will be offered at ONA Hotels, the official hotel chain of LIFE.
