Considered one of the world's leading festivals in the field of Lied, the Oxford International Song Festival was founded in 2002 through the initiative and leadership of Sholto Kynoch, who currently serves as its director. A Lied pianist, Kynoch also regularly accompanies names such as Christoph Prégardien, Dietrich Henschel, and Kate Royal. At LIFE Victoria, which is an International Partner of the Oxford Festival, he has participated alongside Elena Copons, Benjamin Appl, Tara Erraught, and Stephan Loges, among others. He returned to LIFE Victoria last spring as artist-in-residence to offer Schubert's Muses, a cycle of three recitals curated by himself in which he brought the composer's music into dialogue with Vienna, Mozart, and Rossini. Now he returns to LIFE Victoria to offer masterclasses in this special centenary edition.
