The recital begins with The Blessed Virgin’s Expostulation by Henry Purcell, a lament of great dramatic intensity where anguish and hope coexist, and continues with songs by André Previn set to texts by Toni Morrison, which explore dreams, memory, and identity. In the second part, Les Illuminations by Benjamin Britten transforms the visionary poetry of Arthur Rimbaud into a powerful soundscape, culminating in traditional Caribbean songs, such as Evening Time or Rosebud, which evoke the dream of collective memory and reclaim tradition as a living space for identity, ritual, and remembrance.

Soprano Jeanine De Bique and pianist Aaron Wajnberg will make their debut at LIFE Victoria next Monday, February 16, at the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau, at 8:00 PM. The program proposes a musical journey through the universe of dreams, understood not only as a nocturnal manifestation but also as a profound expression of desire, faith, beauty, and loss.
Trinidadian soprano Jeanine De Bique, trained at the Manhattan School of Music, maintains a prominent international career with a season marked by engagements in Switzerland, London, and the United States, among others. Alongside her, pianist Aaron Wajnberg, praised for his expressive depth and the clarity of his musical vision, is considered one of the most significant pianists of his generation and regularly performs at some of the world’s leading international venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Kölner Philharmonie, and BOZAR.
